What a puppy learns through positive reinforcement at a young age becomes deeply ingrained and nearly impossible to undo. The first step is always teaching the puppies how to learn. Through short, consistent training sessions several times a day, our trained German Shepherd puppies can develop a dependable desire to respond to every command–because whatever is rewarded is naturally rewarded.

As our German Shepherd protection dog candidates mature, they are slowly introduced to distractions–only after mastering the core obedience commands: sit, down, come, stay, and “no”( meaning stop). During the early stages, behavior is shaped in a consistent environment to build predictable responses. Once reliable in one setting, the puppies are brought into new environments and expected to perform the same way every time.

In the early stages, good behavior is reinforced with food rewards, which carry the most significance at that age. As they grow, physical affection becomes more impactful. Our trainers also develop the dog’s play drive by encouraging healthy interaction with toys.
